The work they provide is only fair, plus they are way overpriced.
So positive has been my experience with them, that I have referred them to my businesses in Utah County. They have provided highly competitive bids and have suggested alternative approaches to solve a complex venting problem for a wood-fired oven.
Moreover, the ignitor in my furnace would only last a year if I was lucky, so I kept calling Stallings, paying a huge amount each time and just chalked it up to a bad design of my furnace. However, the new tech told me the quality of the ignitor Stallings had been replacing was very poor, he put in a much better quality ignitor for almost half of what Stallings had been charging me for the part, and it's been two years without any trouble so far.
My experiences with Stallings Sheet Metal have all been positive. I have worked with a number of the leading HVAC contractors in Utah County and Stallings Sheet Metal has exceeded my expectations for expertise, reliability, and value. I have used them for both repairs and for the installation of a new heat pump system in my Sanpete County home.
They were able to fix it fireplace fan and the customer service was really good but it took a little bit to get back to me. Once they did it only took a couple hours to fix it.
Also, one time our furnace went out before all the above transpired, so I called Stallings to come out right away. It really wasn't that cold but we have an older home and the heat had been off since Sunday morning, so it was around 60F in the house and starting to get very uncomfortable. It was Monday morning when I called, the lady who answered said she would put me on their "without heat" list. I assumed this meant we would get priority, but boy was I wrong. By Wednesday I called someone else (this is before I found my Manti tech) who came right away and fixed us up. I didn't see a man from Stallings until Friday afternoon. At the time there was a heated (pardon the pun) election going on, one of the owners of Stallings was in the other camp from mine. I don't know if this had any influence on their slow response, but I have seen some of the council (which he presides over) and the previous Mayor actually stop doing business with one of our local parts stores because the part store was also not in their political camp. I'd hate to think this was the reason, I would hope we could put our differences aside and work together. But it does raise some questions that shouldn't be overlooked when choosing a heating contractor.
After paying an arm and a leg for continued furnace repairs I just couldn't bring myself to call them again. I went with someone from Manti and learned quite a bit. First of all the tech from Stallings actually cross-wired a CO censor so it would not shut off the furnace in the event there was a leak. I can only guess why this was done, maybe they didn't have the right part. But the new company I called showed me what they did and corrected the problem by installing the correct part.
In particular, I have appreciated how clean and orderly they keep their job site and that they are perfectionists in their work. "Good enough" is not in their vocabulary. They do things the way I would - if I had the skill to do it myself.
